Riley 1½ Lynx Sprite. (1936-38)
As with the Kestrel, The 1½ Litre Lynx was also fitted with the sprite engine from 1936 onwards. It offered an increase in performance, with slightly improved trim levels. Approximately a third of all Lynxes appear to have had the Sprite engine, and it appears to have outsold the standard model in 1937, based on the number of cars identified. However, as with the standard Lynx, sales dropped away dramatically at the end. A number of standard Lynxes have been upgraded to Sprite spec over the years, but genuine ones should all have the double 'S' prefix on the chassis number.
