Riley 9 Gamecock. (1931-33)
The Riley 9 Gamecock was launched as part of the new range for 1932. This saw the demise of the former assorted range of open cars, to be replaced primarily by the Gamecock as the main 2-seater open tourer. It was an immediate success, the underslung chassis producing a sleek, low body design quite unlike anything else on the open market at the time. Behind the two seats was a long tail with large luggage space before the spare wheel. Up front, the windscreen could be folded flat to have a completely open-air experience.
Even allowing for the survival rate to be higher than saloons, the Gamecock was a very popular car with perhaps as many as 1000 produced in 1931/2. However, it seems that it had ceased production by the end of 1932 as tourer production focussed on the Lynx for 1933.
