Riley 9 Trinity
The Trinity was so named because of the three positions that the hood could be fixed in. Obviously, there was closed (as in the picture) and open, but there was also a panel which turned over the rear seats to make a 2 seater. Quite why Riley considered this to be such a big selling point is unclear, but it didn't sell, with no more than 60 or 70 seeming to find homes. Indeed, of the 4 chassis number identified for Trinitys, all date from 1933 cars, so any 1934 cars are probably old stock which were built in 1933. The body, which was provided by outside coachbuilders Meredith Coachcraft, was also available on the 6 cylinder chassis, but it is unclear if any were built.
