Royal Riley Motorbike 2¼hp (1903-04)
For 1903, Riley increased the size of the engine on their motorbikes to 2¼ hp. However, this wasn't just a change of supplier as had happened before, this was a brand new engine, designed in house by Percy Riley and built by his new Riley Engine Company. It also wasn't the only engine available, with two larger versions also built for the motorbikes. The frame was also beefed up, with twin tubes in places, presumably to take the bigger engines and more power without danger.
