RILEY - MOTORSPORT RACE CARS

as Old as the Industry, as modern as the Hour

The history of the six-cylinder racing cars is particularly complicated, and not fully understood. The table below attempts to explain what is known, but it is not complete, nor is it ever likely that it will be. Some of the information given is plausible speculation, primarily from the Riley Register's Volume 5 about the MPH models, written by Robin Cameron. There is also a strong suspicion, albeit unconfirmed, that the first two batches of Alpine Gamecocks were the same chassis, re-registered for the 1934 event. However, one of the cars may have already been rebuilt as a Falcon-type saloon for the 1934 Monte Carlo Rally.
