From their first entry into the world of Motorsport, Riley built up a formidable reputation across both Britain and Europe. Sadly some of the records have been lost, but below are a selection of the sporting records and acheivements for Riley cars, both works and privately entered:

  • London to Edinburgh Reliability Trial - On time / without incident

  • Ballinaslaughter Hillclimb - Highest aggregate for Climb & Speed
  • Wellbeck Speed Trials - 48mph for flying KM
  • Coventry - Holyhead Trial - 3 cars within scheduled time

  • 1910s

    Many further successes fell to Riley in the years up to World War One. Hill Climbs and Reliability Trials were the events most frequently entered, but other events were entered too, whether by the Riley Brothers, who had acheieved many of the events noted above, or by private cars. It was all good publicity for Riley, and helped boost the publics perception of the brand and their cars in these early days of motoring.
