Riley 1½ Adelphi Sprite. (1936-38)

Whilst the Adelphi seems to have been officially offered with the Sprite engine, only one or two examples are recorded, and it seems unlikely that more than a handful were ever produced. Basic specification was identical to the standard Adelphi, but with the Sprite engine. It is entirely likely that whilst the car was advertised with the Sprite engine, they were only built to special order, thus extending the time it took for a customer to receive the model, and also preventing it from being test driven. As a result, dealers are unlikely to have pushed the model, and so sales remained, understandably, small.
