Riley 2˝ Maltby Redfern Tourer. (1937-38)

As unique as the Big Four Lynx, only one chassis was bodied by an outside company. Little is known of the origin of this vehicle, but the body is thought to be unique (whilst based on a standard Maltby design, which was fitted to other manufacturers chassis). The vehicle has survived to the present day, but is still a bit of a mystery.
The body is an open 4 door, 4 seater tourer, registered EKT335. It has a very early automatic (hydraulic) system for raising or lowering the canvas roof, which sits above the projecting rear trunk when folded. The grille and bonnet sides are standard Riley Big 4 in style, but perhaps uniquely to late Riley's, the spare wheel sits in a recess in the nearside front wing, rather than at the rear.
