Riley 14/6 Stelvio. (1929-31)

The Stelvio was one of the first bodies that Riley offered on the 14/6 Chassis. It was built by the Weymann Coachbuilding company, as an elegant 4-light body, with a boot. It used the longer of the two chassis produced for the 6-cylinder cars and was offered for two years before being replaced by the similar Stelvio II. The body was fabric covered, much like the smaller Monaco 9 launched a couple of years earlier, but the car was designed to look even sleeker, with the longer chassis and low roofline. Then, as now, however, there was a certain aritistic licence in some of the publicity material, and the image above may exaggerate the longm low lines a little. There was also a full-width rear luggage boot, which had a peaked top below the split rear window.
Unfortunately it is impossible now to identify where the changeover to the Stelvio II came in chassis numbers, but between the two models perhaps 200-250 were built, with a few believed to have survived.
